Semarang, April 5, 2026 — Diponegoro National Hospital (RSND) held a World Sleep Day 2026 commemoration on Sunday morning (April 5), attended by members of the public, healthcare professionals, and various stakeholders. The event was both lively and educational, beginning in the Car Free Day (CFD) area and continuing with a series of activities at RSND.

The event started with participants gathering in the RSND parking area, followed by a group walk to Sikatak Bridge. Participants then joined a group exercise session as part of a healthy lifestyle campaign. The official opening ceremony featured remarks from the Chair of PERHATI-KL Central North Java Branch, Dr. dr. Dwi Antono, Sp.T.H.T.B.K.L., Subsp. Onk (K), followed by the President Director of RSND, dr. Agus Setiyo Hadipurwanto, M.Kes.

In his remarks, the Chair of PERHATI-KL Central North Java Branch emphasized the importance of cross-sector collaboration in raising public awareness of ear, nose, and throat health, as well as sleep disorders, which are often closely related to this field.

The President Director of RSND reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to continuously improving healthcare services, particularly in the management of sleep disorders. “RSND will continue to develop facilities and healthcare services related to sleep disorders to meet the growing needs of the community,” he stated. He also expressed appreciation and gratitude to all teams and parties who contributed to the successful organization of the event.

The Chairperson of World Sleep Day 2026 and ENT specialist at the RSND Sleep Clinic, dr. Kanti Yunika, Sp.T.H.T.B.K.L., Subsp. LF (K), highlighted the importance of public awareness regarding sleep quality. She explained that good sleep is one of the main pillars of health but is often overlooked. Education on sleep hygiene was emphasized as an essential component in preventing various health disorders.

Support for the event also came from the Head of Tembalang Subdistrict, Ms. Asih Sri Windarti, S.T., who expressed appreciation for the initiative. She noted that the activity provided valuable education for the Tembalang community. “We greatly appreciate this event, especially because it delivers much-needed public education. Many of us were previously unaware of World Sleep Day—it turns out that sleep also has its own dedicated day of commemoration,” she said.

The event continued with a group photo session, sleep hygiene education, as well as quizzes and door prizes that generated strong enthusiasm among participants. RSND also provided a consultation corner where visitors could consult directly with medical specialists from various fields, including ENT–Head and Neck Surgery, neurology, clinical nutrition, and anesthesiology–intensive therapy, regarding sleep health and sleep disorders. In addition, free health screenings were offered, including random blood glucose (GDS), cholesterol, and uric acid tests.

Participants were then invited back to RSND for a mini hospital tour, followed by a communal meal. The event concluded with a CPAP trial session in the Lavender Room at RSND, giving participants the opportunity to learn more about sleep disorder therapy, particularly for sleep apnea.

Through this event, RSND hopes to increase public awareness of the importance of quality sleep while strengthening the hospital’s role as a comprehensive and trusted sleep health service center.
