Semarang, January 14, 2026 — Diponegoro National Hospital (RSND) Semarang has officially introduced a stereotactic mammography-guided biopsy service. This procedure utilizes advanced mammography technology to precisely obtain even the smallest breast tissue samples, with minimal incision, no need for hospitalization, and improved patient comfort.

The introduction of this service marks a strategic step by RSND in strengthening early detection and diagnostic efforts for breast cancer in Central Java. Supported by state-of-the-art technology, RSND is now able to provide breast biopsy services comparable to those offered by modern cancer centers, eliminating the need for patients to be referred outside the region or abroad for further diagnostic procedures.

The Oncologic Surgery Specialist at RSND, dr. Djoko Handojo, M.Si.Med., Sp.B., Subsp.Onk(K)., FINACS., FICS., stated that this service represents a significant milestone in the development of oncology services at RSND.

“This is a very important achievement for RSND. The hospital is now equipped with modern mammography equipment of superior quality in Central Java. With this technology, patients can undergo earlier, more precise, and more comfortable breast biopsy procedures, even for extremely small tissue samples,” he explained.

Echoing this statement, the Consultant Radiology Specialist at RSND, dr. Rr. Lydia Purna Widyastuti Setjadiningrat Kuntjoro, Sp.Rad(K)., emphasized that this technology offers higher diagnostic accuracy.

“This is a highly advanced technology. With this equipment, biopsies can be performed with great precision and minimal tissue damage. We hope this will enhance patient comfort and enable accurate diagnoses,” she added.
