Semarang, November 29, 2025 — Diponegoro National Hospital (RSND), in collaboration with the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, Diponegoro University (FK Undip), successfully conducted a prestigious series of activities under the Visiting Professor Program.

Coordinated by Dr. dr. Hadi, Sp.B, as the Person in Charge (PIC), the program took place at the Central Operating Theater (IBS) of RSND and the Faculty of Medicine, Diponegoro University. The initiative aimed to enrich scientific knowledge, strengthen clinical research networks, and share the latest developments in surgical science. The event featured three distinguished visiting professors from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).

The program was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Diponegoro University, Prof. Dr. dr. Yan Wisnu Prajoko, M.Kes., Sp.B., Subsp. Onk(K), following opening remarks from the Head of the Department of Surgery, FK Undip, Dr. dr. Sigit Adi Prasetyo, M.Si.Med., Sp.B., Subsp. BD(K), and the President Director of Diponegoro National Hospital, dr. Agus Setiyo Hadipurwanto, M.Kes.

In his address, the President Director of RSND presented an important progress report on the hospital’s facilities:

  • RSND currently operates 161 hospital beds.
  • RSND aims to expand to 200 beds by 2026.
  • Ongoing improvements to operating rooms and the procurement of essential surgical equipment were also reported to support the advancement of surgical education at Diponegoro University.

The Dean of FK Undip emphasized the importance of close collaboration and strategic direction, particularly in fostering partnerships between the Department of Surgery of Diponegoro University and UKM, which holds a higher global ranking. He also expressed plans for a reciprocal visit to UKM together with the President Director of RSND. The opening session also marked the 45th anniversary of the Department of Surgery, FK Undip (Dies Natalis), symbolized by a traditional tumpeng cutting ceremony.

The program continued with Plenary Lectures and Scientific Presentations held at Smart Class 2, Building B, 2nd Floor, FK Undip, delivered by:

  2. Dr. dr. Erik Prabowo, M.Si.Med., Sp.B., Subsp. BD(K)
  3. Prof. Madya Dr. Shahrun Niza Abdullah Suhaimi
  4. dr. Wasisto Dwi Yudisaputro, M.Si.Med., Sp.B., Subsp. Onk(K), FINACS
  5. Assoc. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Ainul Syahrilfazli bin Datuk Jaafar, DIMP
  6. dr. Yuriz Bachtiar, Ph.D., Sp.BS., Subsp. NF(K)

For the practical sessions, all participants and visiting professors were transferred to the Central Operating Theater (IBS) of Diponegoro National Hospital for Visiting Surgery activities, which included:

  • Live Demonstration of Colonoscopy and Endoscopy by Dr. dr. Sigit Adi Prasetyo, M.Si.Med., Sp.B., Subsp. BD(K), together with Prof. Datuk Dr. Ismail Sagap, D.P.S.M.
  • Live Demonstration of Mastectomy by dr. Djoko Handojo, M.Si.Med., Sp.B., Subsp. Onk(K), FICS, and dr. Duta Indriawan, M.Biomed., Sp.B, together with Prof. Madya Dr. Shahrun Niza Abdullah Suhaimi.
  • Neurosurgical Visiting and Case Discussion led by Assoc. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Ainul Syahrilfazli bin Datuk Jaafar, DIMP.

RSND hopes that this program will provide significant motivation for participants—particularly surgical residency trainees—to continuously develop their competencies and apply the latest surgical knowledge in order to enhance the quality of healthcare services for the community.
